CEO Interview Print E-mail
Service Objects was founded in 2001 in response to the need for dynamic database programming for the Web.

In 2002, Service Objects developed iron-strength Web services for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and quickly gained recognition as one of the leading real-time data enhancement service bureaus in America. We continued to work hard, expand our customer base and added more projects to our already varied portfolio.

Q. What does Service Objects do?
A. Service Objects provides Web services and professional services for mid-market companies across America. We specialize in providing a variety of "services" that help our customers to fix inaccurate, incomplete, and out-of-date information.

Q. How do your "Web Services" work?
A. Our customers can issue requests to Service Objects' database of more than a billion records and receive results as structured data. Applications include address validation, phone number validation, and census information.

Our customers write software programs that connect remotely to the Service Objects Web APIs service. Communication is performed via standard Internet protocols such as HTTPS, XML and SOAP.

Q. What is a typical application?
A. Our most common application is validating customer data captured from the Web. Our customers use our databases to update incomplete contact information; such as address, name, email, and phone number data.

Q. What is DOTS™?
A. DOTS are essentially externally available Web services. Dynamic On Time Services™ are prebuilt applications, created by Service Objects that allow for the "real time" communication between a web site and multiple data sources. DOTS are a blend of XML, HTTP, .NET and our own proprietary API. The DOTS™ technology can integrate with Internet data, remote databases, intranets and internal/external resources; and display the results as if it was all residing on a single server. This communication is performed within milliseconds and is transparent to the user.

Q. What is one of the products that you have developed with DOTS™?
A. One of my favorite products is DOTSIP Address Validation. This product identifies the geographic location of a web site visitor based on their IP address. Customers use the visitor's geography to customize the visitor's session with data relevant to their physical location, i.e. weather, store locations, even the least expensive gas prices in their area. It is one of the many powerful products developed with DOTS™.

Q. Why is DOTS™ better for applications like IP Address Validation?
A. Good question, anytime you have a massive database that is changing daily, its best not to bring this data in-house. We host, manage and update massive databases weekly so our customers don't have to. DOTS IP Address Validation is an externally hosted Web service that allows companies to determine a site visitor's location without the complexity of maintenance and integration.
