Data Specialist

The data specialist position within the department will focus heavily on data quality assurance by running datasets against our services for our clients, prospective clients and internally for our R&D team. As well, there will be a large focus on helping clients and prospective clients with technical questions about the services and joining sales staff on demonstrations, once trained, to field questions about the services.

Brief Requirements

  • You must have at least 2 years of experience working in data analytics. Experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
  • You have experience sifting through vast data sets to unlock hidden patterns (in your cover letter, please include the data tools and your level of experience with them).
  • You are a data wrangler who has a strong attention to detail for reviewing large data sets.

Competitive Compensation

The starting salary range for this position, based in California, is $52,565.00 - $73,100.00. We may consider an individual bonus for you for successful effort and have a company-wide quarterly bonus program based on revenue, which you're in on from day one. SO wins, you win—that kind of thing. Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California as well. The starting salary range is provided for those hired in California.

What Success Looks Like

One goal is to make sure that every contact record in every system is accurate and genuine – and for the whole planet. No small chore, right? In 2022, we're focused on building referential data set for international addresses allowing us to test our services against real world data. Projects include creating address files for countries, cataloguing country specific formats and variations and incorporating the data into testing applications.

To be successful in this role you'll need to:

  • Run batches and lists against our data validation services and analyze the results.
  • Test existing services and help test internal tools and processes.
  • Build small and large referential data sets for R&D, Applications and Sales departments.
  • Assist R&D with testing new services and product updates.
  • Work with Customer Support and Sales to help with prospect related service questions.
  • Assist Support in troubleshooting technical issues and provide feedback to Engineering.
  • Assist in performing monthly data updates.
  • Help document our processes, bugs, intranet and train others as your experience grows.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. However, we want everyone to have a happy life outside of SO, and we seldom work more than 40 hours per week. There are occasions were things get busy and you may be expected you put in some extra time. We work hard and smart so we can stay in this for the long haul.

Since early 2020 we've been a fully remote team and we plan to stay permanently remote, so you can live and work wherever you want (with a reliable internet connection) in the United States. You'll be working with folks predominately on the West Coast of the United States for a significant portion of your time. Location doesn't influence your productivity, but it sure does help with communication.
