Human Resources and Payroll Manager

Service Objects is growing and we are looking for an experienced Human Resource and Payroll Manager to help us keep and attract talented team members. As our “Chief of Staff” you will help steward all people practices and foster a culture of engagement and innovation for employees. If you are the manager we’re looking for, you have experience with leadership and support services, experience in all areas of human resource management and payroll administration.

Brief Requirements

  • You must have at least three years of experience working in human resources. Familiarity with core functions like personal management, benefits administration, recruiting, or payroll support is important here.
  • You have experience recruiting for both technical and administrative positions. In your cover letter, please include the job search websites which you have recruited on and your level of experience with them.
  • We are looking for a manager who is experienced in compensation analysis and the review process. This truly is a mixed position where you will be responsible for various activities traditionally held in the “HR” and “Accounting” departments.

Competitive Compensation

The starting salary range for this position, based in California, is $103,000.00 - $131,000.00. We will consider individual bonus for you for successful effort and have a company-wide quarterly bonus program based on revenue, which you’re in on from day one. SO wins, you win—that kind of thing. Please note this role is open to candidates outside of California as well. The starting salary range is provided for those hired in California.

To be successful in this role you’ll need to:

  • Provide thought leadership and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to recruiting and retention.
  • Have experience in a recruiting role, preferably at start-ups or successful technical, SaaS companies.
  • Assist with processing timely and accurate biweekly multi-state payroll for U.S. employees using the Insperity payroll platform.
  • Assist the management team by staying on top of trends in compensation and benefits to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Build on our framework of consistent and transparent communication, and ensure we are true in providing a happy and healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Serve as a partner and coach, creating learning and development programs that facilitate internal advancement opportunities for employees.
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm to the HR role and be central in building and maintaining our company culture for employees working in-office and remote.

 

This is a full-time, exempt position. However, we want everyone to have a happy life outside of SO, and we seldom work more than 40 hours per week. There are occasions were things get busy and you may be expected you put in some extra time. We work hard and smart so we can stay in this for the long haul.

Since early 2020 we’ve been a fully remote team and we plan to stay permanently remote, so you can live and work wherever you want (with a reliable internet connection) in the United States. You’ll be working with folks predominately on the West Coast of the United States for a significant portion of your time. Location doesn’t influence your productivity, but it sure does help with communication.
