Service Objects, Inc. Helps Marin Cancer Project Search for the Cause

Santa Barbara, CA - March 7, 2006 - Service Objects, Inc. donated its DOTS Address GeoCode web service to help the Marin Cancer Project conduct analytic research.

The Marin Cancer Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding out why breast cancer rates in Marin County have risen a staggering 60% over eight years. The elevated rates of cancer within Marin County suggest there is a geographic correlation. However, the unique demographic distribution of the county created a barrier for studying where the cancer "hot spots" may be.
Service Objects provided its DOTS Address GeoCode web service to solve this complex geocoding problem. With DOTS Address GeoCode, the Marin Cancer Project could instantly determine the latitude and longitude coordinates of cancer cases, allowing them to identify and map physical locations on a case-by-case basis.

"Without the DOTS Address GeoCode service, our research would be at a standstill," says Judi Shils, Executive Director of the Marin Cancer Project. "Their service was by far more superior to any other available application."

The Marin Cancer Project looks to release its research findings in 2007.

"It's rewarding to know our services may help find the cause of cancer," says Geoff Grow, Service Objects President. "Cancer has effected our friends and family, its great to be able to provide data that may some day result in a cure."
