What’s in a Name? Find Out at Our Free Webinar

According to the late motivational author Dale Carnegie, “Names are the sweetest and most important sound in any language.” And if you run a business, this is even more true when it comes to your prospects and customers.

Upcoming Webinar: What’s in a Name?

We are excited to present a free live webinar on January 25, 2023, at 11 am PST that will discuss how you can ensure the first and last names in your database are always accurate and genuine.

This webinar “What’s in a Name?” will examine the importance of name validation for your business, together with examples of how world-class companies are using Name Validation to improve marketing and sales performance, fight fraud, protect their brand reputation and more. You will also learn how we make implementation easy with knowledgeable product experts, simple sample code and convenient API interfaces, as well as getting an opportunity to try 500 transactions of your own at no cost or obligation.

Presented by Rob Manser, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Service Objects and a veteran of over 20 years of marketing experience, this webinar will show you how a simple, easy-to-implement automated tool can save your business embarrassment, false leads, and lost sales. Let’s look at some of the things you will learn.

Why names go bad – and why it matters

In an ideal world, the contact data that enters your databases would always be accurate – especially something as personal as someone’s name. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case. Here are some of the reasons why:

  • People intentionally enter fake names, ranging from Mr. Donald Duck to randomly punched letters, to sign up for free marketing goodies under false pretenses or perpetrate fraud.
  • Data entry errors, on your end or the customer’s, can lead to wrong names and embarrassing personalized communications with your prospects and customers.
  • Blind formatting of contact data can lead to mistakes that are hilarious – such as one direct mail piece addressed to the Centers for Disease Control that opened with “Dear Mr. Disease” – or even embarrassing or hurtful, such as an incorrect ethnic name.

Problems with contact names are much more widespread than many people realize – in fact, Service Objects founder and CEO Geoff Grow originally started the company in 2000 after getting numerous pieces of duplicate and mislabeled direct mail pieces addressed to people like Mrs. Geff Grow, Jeof Grover, Geef Goow, and more. More importantly, these problems are easily preventable in most cases.

How we can help

Our Name Validation tool is a highly automated product that performs a 40-step check on incoming names to help your business weed out bogus and inaccurate ones. Using a global database of over 1.4 million first names and 2.7 million last names, it corrects and scores incoming names to help you make sure they are correct, while providing an actionable confidence score that can be used to build business logic around, from flagging the lead as

Name Validation also correctly handles compound names (such as “Mr. and Mrs. Tim Banks II”), can standardize name formats across your databases, and flags bogus, garbage, vulgar, and celebrity names before they enter your CRM and marketing platforms. And like every Service Objects product, it comes bundled with expert implementation assistance, available 24/7/365 support, and guaranteed 99.999% uptime.
